- Transportation services are friendly and comfortable, and take you from point to point, person to person, any time of day and any day of the week (assuming volunteer availability).
- You will save money! Your membership fee will likely cost far less than what it will cost to pay for even a single ride. Add in assistance with other tasks, and membership is a true bargain!
What We Don't Do:
- Any form of medical care, including handle medications
- Feed members
- Perform any tasks that require professional licensing
- Provide any assistance lifting the member
- Lift objects over 40 lbs
- Use the member's vehicle
- Clean up bodily fluids or hazardous materials
- Make recommendations for outside vendors or paid professionals
- Accept gifts of ANY value, however cards and notes of appreciation are always welcomed!
What We Do:
There are so many ways that Athol Kindness Connection can enhance your life and contribute to your well being!
- Check-in after big weather events and power outages
- Walk with you!
- Provide home checks during hospitalization/rehab
- Water houseplants during hospitalization/rehab or vacation
- Pick-up mail during hospitalization/rehab
- Change hard-to-reach light bulbs
- Perform small home repairs not requiring high level of carpentry skills
- Assist with in-home tech such as printer, TV, VCR, DVD set-up, WiFi help, etc.
- Teach Facebook, Email, Zoom
- Install or update applications on computer, TV, phone
- Scheduling home services or appointments
- Assistance with filling out forms
- Assistance with communication with family members
- Organize paperwork and files; mail bills
- Research local services needed
- Remove slip and fall hazards
- Help member downsize and consider items to keep/discard
- Relocate items from top shelves to lower shelves
- Shop and offer errand assistance
- Be companions for events (When volunteers are available)
- Transport to medical AND non-medical appointments, including church, funerals, special events, town meetings (When volunteers are available)
- Perform occasional cleaning tasks such as: changing sheets, sweeping porch, cleaning up spills or broken glass, cleaning fridge
- Do light moving tasks (household furniture, reorganize rooms to accommodate safety after hospitalization)
- Organize recycling
- Reorganize closets, put seasonal clothing away, take goods to thrift store
- Change-out seasonal outdoor furniture, hoses, pots, etc.
- Install/remove seasonal window air conditioners and fans
- Bring firewood into home
- Transport books to and from the library
- Accompany member to medical appointments/take notes at appointment
- Open hard-to-open containers
- And much more!
