Who is eligible to be a volunteer?

Wicomico at Home welcomes volunteers to apply that are willing to make an ongoing commitment to being a great neighbor! Volunteers must apply and complete a background check process.

Do I have to be a paying member to volunteer?

While Wicomico at Home encourages all affiliates to join at the member level, those individuals who are solely volunteering their time are able to enlist as volunteers. However, we encourage all members to volunteer their time and talents to support a thriving community!

What volunteer roles are available?

Volunteers can select the role that is right for them! Driving neighbors to appointments, scheduling a friendly drop-in visit, or writing cards are just a few of the ways to dedicate your time to neighbors. Check out our Volunteer Page to learn more.

What kind of training do volunteers receive?

Once you are accepted as a volunteer, you will attend an orientation session and receive training on the computer system that enables volunteers to sign up to perform services. The Village provides training in a number of areas with ongoing volunteer workshops.

Can volunteers choose which services to provide?

As a volunteer, you may specify what you want to do and when by selecting requests from the computer system. Volunteer your way and when it is convenient for you. You may choose to assist with administrative tasks in addition to working with members.
